Guerini wins 19th stage Tour de France

LE PUY-EN-VELA, France, July 22 (UPI) -- Italy's Giuseppe Guerini won Friday's 19th stage of the Tour de France and six-time champion American Lance Armstrong is still going strong.

Guerini beat Sandy Casar of France by 10 seconds to take the 96-mile transitional stage from Issoire and Le Puy-en-Velay in 3 hours, 33 minutes, 4 seconds.

Italy's Franco Pellizotti finished third, two seconds behind Casar, while Spain's Oscar Pereiro Sio finished fourth.

The 33-year-old Armstrong ended 56th, four minutes, 31 seconds behind Guerini. He could win an unprecedented seventh consecutive Tour championship with a strong showing Saturday and Sunday.
