Federer wins 3rd straight Wimbledon title

WIMBLEDON, England, July 3 (UPI) -- Roger Federer of Switzerland won his third straight Wimbledon title Sunday with a straight-set victory over American Andy Roddick.

Federer controlled the action from the outset, committing just three errors through the first two sets and easily disposing of Roddick, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.

It was the fifth Grand Slam title for the 23-year-old, who is also top seeded.

Federer has now won 36 straight matches on grass, including 21 in a row at the All England Club, where he's 25-4 overall. On the year, he is 58-3 overall.

Roddick slipped to 32-3 on grass since 2003, with all three of his losses coming against Federer at Wimbledon.
