NFL reinstates Ricky Williams

MIAMI, June 16 (UPI) -- The NFL has reinstated Miami Dolphins tailback Ricky Williams in its substance abuse program, Williams' agent Leigh Steinberg said.

Steinberg told Thursday's South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper Williams will be subject to 10 random drug tests a month and faces a one-year suspension if he fails any of them.

The Dolphins gave Williams a copy of their off-season workout program to help him get back into shape. The former All-Pro retired last July and sat out the entire 2004 football season amid speculation he failed a test for marijuana.

"He's confident that his weight and strength are steadily returning, that he'll be in good shape by training camp and that the process will continue throughout training camp," Steinberg told the newspaper.
