SURREY, England, May 30 (UPI) -- Angel Cabrera won golf's BMW Championship in Surrey, England, Sunday by shooting a 5-under 67 in the final round.
He won the tournament by two shots over Paul McGinley, finishing at 15-under-par 273 for his third career victory on the European Tour. Nick O'Hern shot a closing 2-under 64 to finish third at 11-under-par 277.
Cabrera, who was the runner-up at Surrey in 2001 and 2004, had started the final round tied atop the leader-board with Peter Hedblom. He took control at the third hole with a birdie. Hedblom made a bogey on the hole and faded.
"It was a tough day," Cabrera said. "Paul was playing very well."
Last year's champion, Scott Drummond, shot 68 in the final round to join Colin Montgomerie, Padraig Harrington, Thongchai Jaidee, Steve Webster and Gary Murphy at five-under 283.
