NEW YORK, April 6 (UPI) -- A five-run ninth inning Wednesday gave Boston a 7-3 victory over the New York Yankees.
Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz each drove in runs and Edgar Renteria singled home two more against Yankee closer Mariano Rivera (1-1), who blew his second straight save opportunity.

The Red Sox capitalized on a bases-loaded error by Alex Rodriguez, who hit a solo home run in the contest.
Mike Timlin (1-0) picked up the win, despite giving up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth.
