NBA: Minnesota 89, LA Clippers 85

MINNEAPOLIS, March 27 (UPI) -- Kevin Garnett got his 61st double-double of the season Sunday as the Minnesota Timberwolves posted an 89-85 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Garnett had 20 points and 13 rebounds for Minnesota, which trails Denver by 2 1/2 games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the NBA Western Conference.

Sam Cassell added 16 for the Timberwolves, who have won nine of their last 13 games.

Elton Brand scored 25 points to lead the Clippers, who had a three-game winning streak end.

Corey Maggette added 14 points and 13 rebounds for Los Angeles, but missed a potential game-tying three-point attempt in the final seconds.
