New York makes final 2012 Olympic bid

NEWYORK, N.Y., Feb. 24 (UPI) -- New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg made his final pitch to host the 2012 Summer Games with a celebrity-studded dinner for Olympic Committee members.

The 13 members of the IOC's site-evaluation committee rubbed elbows with boldface names like Matt Damon, Whoopi Goldberg and Meryl Streep as they feasted on roast turkey with cornbread stuffing, the New York Post said.

Earlier Wednesday, the IOC members attended jazz performances at the Time Warner Center, from which they went by bus to Bloomberg's home.
