NBA: Minnesota 98, Denver 92

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Kevin Garnett scored 24 points Wednesday night and hit a series of key shots down the stretch to give Minnesota a 98-92 win over Denver.

Wally Szczerbiak added 19 points for the Timberwolves, who had lost their previous six games.

Denver was led by Carmelo Anthony with 21.

The Nuggets led by seven points midway through the final period, but Minnesota scored seven in a row to tie it and the teams battled closely the rest of the way.

A basket by Garnett with 41.9 seconds left gave Minnesota a four-point lead and he then made two free throws to clinch the victory.
