PROVIDENCE, R.I., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Jared Dudley put Boston College in front with 1:20 remaining Wednesday night and the unbeaten Golden Eagles held on to down Providence, 78-75.

Dudley and Craig Smith both scored 21 points while Providence (9-9, 0-5) was led by Donnie McGrath's 17 points.

Providence led by as many as 11 points early in the second half and, after Boston College rallied for a four-point advantage, the Friars regained a two-point lead.

But Dudley's three-pointer with 80 seconds to play gave the Eagles the lead and Providence came up empty on its final three possessions. Boston College managed two free throws down the stretch to provide the winning margin.

McGrath's three-point attempt was short at the buzzer.
