NBA: New Jersey 109, Atlanta 88

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Eric Williams and Rodney Buford had 21 and 18 points respectively Saturday night when the New Jersey Nets posted a 109-88 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

The Nets have won two of three after losing nine straight.

Antoine Walker and Al Harrington each had 17 points to pace the Hawks, losers of nine straight and all but two of the 16 games they have played this season.

The Nets jumped out to a 19-4 lead in the first five minutes of the contest. Atlanta answered with an 18-6 burst, led by Walker, who had 12 points and two assists during the spurt.

That pulled the Hawks within 25-22 with 1:19 left in the first quarter. But the Nets rresponded with a 14-3 run.
