Singh first to win $10 million in year

PALM HARBOR, Fla., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Vijay Singh, the top-ranked player in the world, shot a 65 on Sunday win the Chrysler Championship and top more than $10 million this year.

Singh finished with an 18-under 266 and won by five strokes over co-runnerups Tommy Armour III and Jesper Parnevik.

It was Singh's ninth victory of the 2004 season and the $900,000 first-prize made him the first in PGA Tour history to top $10 million in single-season earnings.

Singh has earned $10,725,167 so far with next week's Tour Championship still to play.

Armour shot a 2-under 69 Sunday and tied Parnevik, who had a 68 in the final round.

Joe Durant shot an 8-under 63 Sunday to take fourth at 12-under-par 272. Kirk Triplett, with a closing 70, was fifth at 273.

Kenny Perry shot a 67-275. His $145,000 prize vaulted him to 29th and into the Tour Championship.
