COL FB: West Virginia 27, Syracuse 6

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Rasheed Marshall threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns Thursday night in sending 14th-ranked West Virginia coasting past Syracuse, 27-6.

Two of the touchdown passes went to Chris Henry, who had 95 receiving yards overall. West Virginia improved to 6-1 and is 2-0 in the Big East.

Jason Colson added 113 rushing yards on 17 attempts for the Mountaineers.

Perry Patterson completed 23 of 37 passes for 249 yards for Syracuse (3-4, 1-1). The Orangemen were coming off a near upset of Florida State two weeks ago.

West Virginia scored the first 17 points, helped along by a blocked field goal attempt that gave the Mountaineers the ball at the Syracuse 39.

Marshall hit Henry with a 23-yard touchdown pass three plays later to make it 10-0 with 3:33 to play in the first period.
