MLB: Boston 6, N.Y. Yankees 4 (12 innings)

BOSTON, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- David Ortiz slammed a two-run 12th inning home run to give Boston a 6-4 win over the New York Yankees Sunday in the American League Championship Series.

New York leads the seven-game series 3-1.

Manny Ramirez led off the Red Sox 12th with a single off Paul Quantrill and Ortiz followed with his homer.

Boston, three outs from elimination, scored a run in the ninth off Yankees' closer Mariano Rivera to tie the game at 4-4.

Kevin Millar walked and pinch-runner Dave Roberts stole second. Bill Mueller then singled in Roberts to send the game into extra innings.
