NFL: NY Jets 16, Buffalo 14

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Doug Brien kicked a 38-yard field goal with 58 seconds remaining Sunday to give the New York Jets a 16-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Chad Pennington completed 31-of-42 passes for 304 yards and a touchdown for the Jets (4-0), who equaled the best start in the franchise's history.

New York is tied with the also-unbeaten New England Patriots for the AFC East lead.

Drew Bledsoe rallied Buffalo from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to take the lead, but the Bills (0-4) stayed winless.

Curtis Martin rushed for 77 yards on 22 carries while Wayne Chrebet caught eight passes for 90 yards for the Jets. Chris Baker caught a touchdown pass and Brien had three field goals in the win.
