LAKE FOREST, Ill., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Chicago Bears quarterback Rex Grossman was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Grossman has a torn ligament in his right knee, officially ending his 2004 season. He suffered the injury while running for a touchdown during Sunday's loss to Minnesota.

The second-year quarterback is expected to undergo surgery in a few weeks and will need 7-to-10 months of rehabilitation.
Grossman completed 21-of-31 passes for 248 yards against Minnesota. In three games this season, he has thrown for 607 yards on 47-of-84 passing with one touchdown and three interceptions.
The Bears filled Grossman's roster spot by signing quarterback Chad Hutchinson, who most recently played with the Dallas Cowboys.
