MLB: Texas 2, Anaheim 0

ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Seven Texas pitchers combined on a six-hitter Saturday as the Texas Rangers beat the Anaheim Angels, 2-0.

Joaquin Benoit got a spot start for the injured Juan Dominguez and pitched four two-hit innings for the Rangers. Erasmo Ramirez (5-3) got the win in 1 1/3 perfect innings of relief, while Francisco Cordero worked the final two innings for his 45th save of the season.

Jeff Nelson, Ron Mahay, Doug Brocail and Brian Shouse all combined for 1 2/3 innings for Texas, which ended a two-game slide and won for the sixth time in nine outings.

Kelvim Escobar (10-11) suffered the loss for the Angels, who fell two games behind AL West-leading Oakland. Escobar pitched eight innings of three-hit, one-run ball.

Escobar's only blemish came in the third when Laynce Nix reached on a one-out single and scored when Rod Barajas followed with a double to left.
