MLB: Arizona 3, Colorado 2

PHOENIX, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Randy Johnson became the all-time major league strikeout leader among left-handed pitchers Wednesday night in Arizona's 3-2 win over Colorado.

Johnson's ninth strikeout of the evening was the 4,137th of his career, surpassing Steve Carlton for third place on the career strikeouts list.

With none out and a runner on first in the seventh, he got Vinny Castilla to swing through an 0-2 slider. The crowd gave him a standing ovation, after which he struck out Luis Gonzalez later in the inning.

Johnson (14-13) threw just 95 pitches -- 71 of them strikes -- to get through eight innings.
