MLB: NY Yankees 5, Baltimore 2

BALTIMORE, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Orlando Hernandez pitched seven innings Saturday to remain unbeaten and lead the New York Yankees to a 5-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Derek Jeter, who had two hits and scored two runs, sparked a three-run eighth with an RBI single for the Yankees, who won for the sixth time in their last seven games.

Rafael Palmeiro and Melvin Mora homered for Baltimore, which has lost three of its last four.

Hernandez (8-0) limited the Orioles to a run on five hits. The Yankees are 11-1 in his 12 starts this season.

Sidney Ponson (10-14), who pitched a two-hit shutout against the Yankees last week, lost for just the second time since the All-Star break. The Baltimore righthander was charged with five runs -- three earned -- on 10 hits in seven-plus innings.
