CHICAGO, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Carl Pavano threw a seven-hit shutout Friday in carrying Florida to a 7-0 win over the Chicago Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader.
Miguel Cabrera drove in three runs as the Marlins won their 10th game in 11 tries.

Pavano improved to 17-5, equaling the franchise record for most victories in a single season. His 11th road victory set a Florida record.
The Cubs made three errors and cost themselves further with two mistakes on the basepaths.
Kerry Wood (7-7) took the loss, giving up six runs on 11 hits.
