The Devil Rays did not leave Tampa until nearly 3:00 p.m. (edt), which was the re-scheduled starting time for Game 1 of the doubleheader that the Yankees had offered as a courtesy.

Tampa Bay didn't arrive at Yankee Stadium until after 6:00, a half-hour before the second game was scheduled to start.

New York, which leads the American League East by three games over Boston, has won four of its last six games.

Yankees starter Orlando Hernandez allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings. Hernandez is 7-0 in 11 starts with a 2.62 ERA.
