NEW YORK, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Florida right-hander Carl Pavano became the National League's second 16-game winner of the season Thursday as the Marlins beat the New York Mets, 9-6.
Pavano, who allowed four runs, eight hits and had six strikeouts, raised his record to 16-5.

The victory, seventh straight for the Marlins, completed a four-game sweep. The Mets have lost six in a row.
Juan Encarnacion and Damion Easley each had three RBI for the Marlins (70-62), who are eight games over .500 for the first time since June 17, when they were 37-29.
Rookie David Wright went 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBI for the Mets.
The Mets finished an 11-game home-stand with a 1-10 mark.
