Maroth (7-7) threw a one-hit shutout against the New York Yankees last week and gave up just two runs on six hits against the Royals.

Maroth was bailed out in the ninth when Jamie Walker struck out Dee Brown with runners on the corners for his first save of the season.

The Royals lost their third straight. Darrell May (7-10) surrendered four runs on eights hits in eight innings.
