The victory at Kansas Speedway gave Rahal-Letterman Racing its first 1-2 sweep in the IRL.

The two drivers went side-by-side on lap 187 of the 200-lap race and remained in that formation for the final 13 laps. Rice was the leader and Meira went to the high side. The two drivers traded leads six times in the final nine laps.

Meira was credited with the lead on the 199th lap but on the final lap, Rice was able to nudge just a few inches ahead of his teammate to score the second IRL victory of his career.

Rice won the 88th Indianapolis 500 on May 30.

Tony Kanaan finished third Sunday. Dario Franchitti fourth, and 2003 race winner Bryan Herta fifth.
