MLB: San Francisco 6, Florida 3

SAN FRANCISCO, May 1 (UPI) -- A.J. Pierzynski made amends for a passed ball with a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh Saturday as San Francisco beat Florida, 6-3.

Pierzynski's single erased a 3-2 deficit and spoiled the day for Florida starter Carl Pavano, who hit his first career home run.

Pierzynski's passed ball on Miguel Cabrera's strikeout in the first inning led to an extra run as the Marlins staked Pavano (2-1) to a 2-0 lead.

Jason Schmidt (2-2) settled down after a 35-pitch first inning, allowing three runs and seven hits in seven frames with a walk and nine strikeouts.

Pavano's homer snapped a 2-2 tie in the fifth, but Pavano ran into control problems in the seventh as J.T. Snow led off with a walk and stole second.

After Marquis Grisson grounded out, the Marlins intentionally walked Barry Bonds for the third of four times.
