MINNEAPOLIS, April 28 (UPI) -- Michael Ryan and Shannon Stewart had RBI singles and scored on wild pitches by Terry Adams in the eighth Wednesday night as Minnesota downed Toronto, 9-5.
Minnesota appeared headed for an easy victory after getting six effective innings from starter Kyle Lohse. But J.C. Romero, who had not allowed a run in nine of his first 10 appearances this season, gave up a three-run double to Kevin Cash in the eighth.
Juan Rincon relieved and served up a run-scoring double to Chris Woodward to forge a 5-5 tie.
But Adams was just as ineffective. He had not been scored upon in his previous six outings, but after coming in for Jason Frasor (0-1), Adams gave up RBI singles to Ryan and Stewart before uncorking a pair of wild pitches with two outs.
Despite allowing Woodward's hit, Rincon (4-0) escaped further damage. Joe Nathan worked a scoreless ninth and finished off Minnesota's ninth win in 12 games at the Metrodome this season.
