NBA: New York 102, Washington 98 (OT)

WASHINGTON, April 10 (UPI) -- Frank Williams, subbing for Stephon Marbury, put New York ahead with a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left in a 102-98 overtime win at Washington.

The Knicks (37-42) already had sealed seventh place in the Eastern Conference earlier Saturday when Boston lost at Atlanta. They still can catch New Orleans for sixth.

Knicks Coach Lenny Wilkens played star Marbury just 22 minutes.

The Wizards had a chance to win in regulation, but Juan Dixon missed a runner in the lane with three seconds left.

In overtime, Dixon tied the game at 96-96 with a short jumper with 36 seconds left but fouled Williams, who made both free throws.

After Washington's Steve Blake missed a three-pointer, Moochie Norris and DerMarr Johnson each hit a pair of free throws to seal the win.

Johnson scored a season-high 22 points in 24 minutes and Tim Thomas also scored 22 points for the Knicks.
