Jimenez wins in Portugal

PORTIMAO, Portugal, April 4 (UPI) -- Miguel Angel Jimenez shot a 5-under-par 67 Sunday and won the Algarve Open de Portugal by two shots over Australia's Terry Price.

Jimenez finished the European Tour event at 16-under-par 272. Price matched the course record with a final round 64 and was alone at 274.

Graeme McDowell of Ireland and Klas Eriksson of Sweden finished a shot behind Price at 13-under 275 and England's David Lynn, Ignacio Garrido of Spain, Jean-Francois Remesy of France and David Park of Wales were tied for fifth another shot back.

The 40-year-old Jimenez began the day tied for the lead. He birdied the second and fifth holes go go ahead and stayed in front.

It was Jimenez's third victory since qualifying began last year for the Ryder Cup and he appears to be a cinch to make the European team. The Spaniard also won in Majorca and Bangkok.
