Tellqvist and the Maple Leafs had a 4-0 lead before Montreal came to life.

Pierre Dagenais ended Tellqvist's shutout bid with 4:40 to go in the second period and Steve Begin and Michael Ryder scored in the opening 11 minutes of the third to get the Canadiens within 4-3.

Sundin got the eventual game-winner with 2:46 remaining, finishing off a 2-on-1 with Alexander Mogilny.

Ryder struck again in the final minute and had a chance to tie it with 10 seconds left but was wide of the left goalpost.
