NHL: Buffalo 1, Florida 1 (OT)

BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Roberto Luongo made 41 saves and Marcus Nilson scored midway through the third period Wednesday night, lifting Florida into a 1-1 tie with Buffalo.

Buffalo had 21 goals in its previous three contests and was seeking its first five-game winning streak since taking six in a row 13 months ago.

But Luongo held the Sabres to one goal while facing at least 40 shots for the 15th time this season. The fourth overall pick in the 1997 draft did most of his work in the second period, turning aside 22 shots.

Tough guy Eric Boulton ended a 54-game goalless drought early in the first period to give the Sabres a lead that held up until Nilson netted his fifth of the season at 9:33 of the third.

Mika Noronen stopped 22 shots for Buffalo, which remained one of two teams without an overtime win.
