Cavaliers trade for McInnis

CLEVELAND, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired point guard Jeff McInnis from Portland Wednesday for forward Darius Miles.

The move was a continuation of Cleveland's reshaping its roster around rookie star LeBron James.

The Cavaliers also obtained forward Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje and placed Jason Kapono on the injured list.

McInnis, 29, is a solid if unspectacular point guard who has averaged 11.9 points and 5.0 assists this season, his seventh. He should be able to alleviate some of the ballhandling duties asked of James, who has run Cleveland's offense at times but whose best position may be the wing.

Miles is averaging 8.9 points and 4.5 rebounds this season, his second with Cleveland and fourth in the NBA. Entering the NBA directly out of high school in 2000, the 6-10 Miles has teased teams with his talent and potential.
