Clippers waive Glen Rice

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Clippers forward Glen Rice was waived Friday as the team cleared room for forward Melvin Ely.

A 14-year veteran and former NBA All-Star Game MVP, Rice had averaged just 3.7 points in 18 games this season, his first with the Clippers. He was signed as a free agent after being traded from Houston to Utah and waived by the Jazz.
