COL BKB: Duke 88, Davidson 54

DURHAM, N.C., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- J.J. Redick broke his own school record for consecutive free throws Monday as No. 2 Duke beat Davidson, 88-54, in its final non-conference tuneup.

Redick scored a season-high 22 points, including both free throws to extend his streak to 44. He set the previous Duke record of 43 last season.

The sophomore guard, who began his current free throw streak at the end of last season, helped the Blue Devils (9-1) break open the game by making five of his six 3-pointers in the second half.

Luol Deng, trying to become the first freshman to lead Duke in scoring since Johnny Dawkins in 1982-83, added 18 points.

Mike Krzyzewski won his 599th game at Duke as the Blue Devils extended the nation's longest-current home winning streak to 33 games.

Ian Johnson scored 14 points for Davidson (4-7), which has lost its last 17 games against Duke.
