It marked only the second time in the history of the 110-game series that both teams were ranked.

The Golden Eagles (7-2) opened the game with a 9-0 run, but Wisconsin never trailed after Mike Wilkinson's follow shot snapped a 37-37 tie with 14:23 remaining. Marquette had a chance to tie, but Steve Novak missed an open three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining.

Travis Diener scored 19 points to lead Marquette.
