NHL: Boston 4, Edmonton 3

BOSTON, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Martin Lapointe and Joe Thornton each had a goal and an assist Tuesday.as Boston scored three times on the power play for a 4-3 victory over Edmonton.

Lapointe set up rookie Patrice Bergeron's power-play tally that opened the scoring midway through the first period.

After rookie Jarret Stoll tied it 51 seconds into the second period with his second goal in as many nights, Lapointe put Boston ahead for good with a power-play tally with 7:35 left in the period.

Little more than two minutes later, Thornton made the Bruins 3-for-3 on the power play with his third goal of the season.

Sandy McCarthy gave Boston a 4-1 advantage with 3:24 to go in the second.

The Oilers rallied in the third as Raffi Torres scored his seventh goal and Shawn Horcoff added a shorthanded tally.

Andrew Raycroft made 31 saves for the Bruins.
