Cardinals dump kicker Tim Duncan

PHOENIX, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- The Arizona Cardinals have waived inconsistent placekicker Tim Duncan.

He has been signed earlier in the season after Bill Gramatica was de-activated because of a back injury. He has missed the last five games.

In those five games, Duncan was 5-of-6 on extra points and 6-of-10 on field goals. He barely made a 20-yard attempt in Sunday's 28-15 loss at Pittsburgh.

Duncan's release comes two weeks after he made a game-winning field goal against San Francisco.

He attended training camp with the Cardinals in 2002, was waived prior to the start of the season, and then was added to the practice squad for the final five weeks but did not see action. He also attended camp this summer and was released just before the season started before he was re-signed on Oct. 3.

The Arizona Republic reported that Gramatica's back was sore after he tried kicking again Monday at practice and his return in the near future is unlikely.
