Despite finishing 15 points behind the Earthquakes in the regular season, the Galaxy can eliminate the top seed in Game Two on Nov. 9.

Victorine got two touches on the ball before sending it between the goalpost and scrambling goalkeeper Pat Onstad.

Defender Hong Myung Bo launched a long ball to Ruiz from the midfield circle, picking out the Guatemalan striker at the top of the box. Ruiz turned to the net, splitting a pair of defenders before ripping a left-footed shot past a diving Onstad.

San Jose forward Dwayne DeRosario, who missed much of the regular season with a torn ACL, left in the 20th minute with an apparent hamstring injury.
