"I can't believe I've won this tournament now four times," Clijsters said. "I came here as a 16-year-old just starting out on the tour and ever since it has been a big part of my career."

It was the 18th career WTA Tour singles title for Clijsters, who tied countrywoman Justine Henin-Hardenne for the most tournament wins this season. Clijsters was appearing in her 14th singles final this year, the most of any woman on the WTA Tour since Steffi Graf in 1993.

Rubin squandered a 4-1 lead in the second set and was foiled in her bid to capture her third title of the year.
