CORAL GABLES, Fla., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Defensive back Sean Taylor of second-ranked Miami will not play this Saturday against Temple.

Taylor, a junior and native of Miami, is recuperating from underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery on Monday.

"The prognosis is good for his recovery," said Coach Larry Coker. "It is going to be day-to-day for him. He had a lot of discomfort, and it certainly needed to be cleaned up, and this seemed to be the time to do it with the open date."

The 6-3, 225-pounder was named Big East Defensive Player of the Week for his effort last Saturday, when the Hurricanes dumped Florida State, 22-14. He had two interceptions, including one 50 yards for a touchdown, and added seven tackles and four pass break-ups.

Taylor is tied for the national lead interceptions with six and is second on the Miami defense with 42 tackles.
