Vikings again turn to Frerotte

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- The unbeaten Minnesota Vikings again will start Gus Frerotte at quarterback this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Frerotte passed for four touchdowns, including three to Randy Moss, in last week's 35-7 rout of San Francisco.

The 10-year veteran was virtually flawless, completing 16-of-21 passes for 267 yards. His single game rating of 157.2 was the highest in team history, surpassing Warren Moon's mark of 152.9 against New Orleans on Nov. 19, 1995.

With a bye next week, the Vikings are trying to buy time for the injured Daunte Culpepper, who suffered three broken bones in his lower back in the 23-13 win over the Detroit Lions on Sept. 21.

He suited up against the 49ers as a backup, and likely will do the same against the Falcons.

Frerotte, who also has played for Washington, Cincinnati, Denver, and Detroit, signed with the Vikings in the offseason as a free agent.
