Damron, Beckman share 36-hole lead

FARMINGTON, Pa., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Robert Damron not only made his first cut at the 84 Lumber Classic Saturday, he earned a share of the 36-hole lead with Cameron Beckman.

Damron shot a 6-under-par 66 for an 11-under 133, a stroke ahead of Brett Quigley, Jesper Parnevik of Sweden and Heath Slocum.

Chris DiMarco and Jerry Kelly were among a group of six players two shots off the pace.

Heavy rain forced the postponement of the second round Friday, meaning the field will try to play 36 holes Sunday.

It marked only the 14th time in 27 starts this season Damron made a cut. He missed his first six of the year, but has made five of the last six, tying for seventh at the Greater Hartford Open.

Beckman's best finish in 2003 was a 14th-place showing at the Byron Nelson Championship in mid-May.
