NASHVILLE, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Placekicker Joe Nedney of the Tennessee Titans has a torn ACL in his right knee and will likely undergo season-ending surgery.
According to Coach Jeff Fisher, Nedney suffered the injury while making a tackle on a kickoff in the second quarter of Sunday night's 25-20 win over the Oakland Raiders.
Punter Craig Hentrich was forced into emergency duty in Nedney's absence and converted all three of his field goal attempts, including a 49-yarder as time expired in the first half.
Fisher told reporters Monday that Hentrich will not be doing double duty any longer.
"We will hold week-long auditions for kickers," Fisher said.
Nedney, built like a linebacker at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, converted 25-of-31 field goals last season. Four of his six misses were from 45 yards or longer. He also finished fourth in the AFC with nine touchbacks.
In his eighth NFL season, Nedney has also kicked for Miami, Arizona, Oakland, Denver, and Carolina.
