Kansas City 3, Texas 1

ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Jimmy Gobble pitched seven innings Wednesday night and Kansas City ended a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over Texas.

Winless in his previous three starts with a 12.15 ERA, Gobble (3-3) allowed one run and four hits and two walks while striking out six. It was his first win since Aug. 9.

Curtis Leskanic gave up a hit in the eighth and Mike MacDougal worked around two singles in the ninth for his 27th save in 35 chances.

Rangers starter John Thomson (12-12) set down the first nine batters he faced before putting the first three Royals on base in the fourth. Aaron Guiel led off with a double and scored the tying run on a single by Joe Randa.

Mark Sweeney followed with an RBI triple to left field, then scored an insurance run on a groundout by Carlos Beltran.
