Detroit 38, Cleveland 17

DETROIT, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Joey Harrington completed 15-of-20 passes for 184 yards and a TD to lead the Detroit Lions to a 38-17 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Steve Mariucci inherited an offense that was ranked 28th and has made an immediate impact as Lions coach. After working with Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens in San Francisco, Mariucci is now tutoring the likes of Harrington, Mike McMahon and rookie Charles Rogers, the second overall pick in the draft.

McMahon was 10-of-17 for 114 yards and ran for a one-yard touchdown in the pre-season game. Rogers caught four passes for 53 yards. Harrington connected with Scotty Anderson on a four-yard scoring pass in the second quarter. Anderson had three catches for 72 yards.

Autry Denson scored on a 37-yard run in the fourth quarter for the Lions (2-1).Kelly Holcomb played the entire first half and was 14-of-21 for 130 yards, including a six-yard touchdown pass to Quincy Morgan.
