Texas 9, Boston 2

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 30 (UPI) -- Rookie Laynce Nix drove in a career-high four runs and Robert Ellis allowed just one run Wednesday night as Texas rolled over Boston, 9-2.

Nix entered the game batting just .196 with two RBI and two walks in 13 games. But he had the best game of his brief career against Boston as he singled, doubled, walked and scored twice.

Ellis (1-1) was shelled for eight runs in four innings in his debut with the Rangers on Friday. He bounced back with a stellar performance against the high-scoring Red Sox, allowing just five hits and three walks in seven innings.

Mark Teixeira, another rookie, had three hits, including a homer, three RBI and scored three times for the Rangers, who won for just the second time in their last seven home games.
