Moya reaches Croatian semis

UMAG, Croatia, July 25 (UPI) -- In a rematch of last year's final, top-seeded Carlos Moya of Spain stormed past countryman David Ferrer on Friday, 6-1, 6-2.

Moya improved his record at this claycourt tournament to 26-5, his best at any event. He is 42-13 this year and is trying to add to titles won at Barcelona and Buenos Aires.

Moya will meet sixth-seeded fellow Mallorca native Rafael Nadal in the semifinals. The 17-year-old Spanish sensation reached his first career ATP semifinal as he bounced 1999 champion Magnus Norman of Sweden, 6-3, 6-4.

Slovakia's Dominik Hrbaty won a matchup of unseeded players as he eliminated Alberto Martin of Spain, 7-5, 6-2. Hrbaty and Martin have a combined 17 years on the circuit, but this was just their second meeting.
