The Pirates rallied with a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to cut the deficit to 5-4. Jimenez gave up hits to Kenny Lofton and Brian Giles in the ninth but got Aramis Ramirez to ground out to end the game.

Giles finished with three hits, a run and an RBI for Pittsburgh, which lost for the third time in five games.
