Texas 4, Tampa Bay 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 27 (UPI) -- Colby Lewis earned his first win in more than five weeks and half of Texas' six hits were home runs as the Rangers posted a 4-2 victory Tuesday night over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Texas got superb pitching during its season-high seven-game winning streak but had seen its starters give up 10 runs in its last two games - both losses.

Lewis (4-3) reversed the trend, allowing just one run and four hits while striking out five in five-plus innings for his first win since April 20.

Texas' Rafael Palmeiro hit his 502nd career homer to open the second inning and Mark Teixeira added a two-run shot off Tampa Bay starter Carlos Reyes (0-1) one out later for a 3-0 lead.

Juan Gonzalez hit a solo homer - his 15th of the season - in the seventh inning for the Rangers, who had three homers and three singles off Reyes.

Ugueth Urbina allowed a solo homer to Aubrey Huff in the ninth inning before securing his 17th save.
