Chang gets French Open wild card

PARIS, May 7 (UPI) -- Former champion Michael Chang of the United States has been given a wild card by French Open organizers on in order to make his last visit to Roland Garros.

Chang, who claimed his only career major in Paris at the age of 17, will retire after the U.S. Open in September.

Tennis prodigies Richard Gasquet and Rafael Nadal, and two more Frenchmen, Mickael Llodra and Jerome Golmard, also received free entry into the season's second Grand Slam, which begins May 26.

On the women's side, Christine Wheeler of Australia and Amandine Dulon, Tatiana Golovin, Anais Laurendon, Virginie Pichet, and Camille Pin, all from France, were awarded wild cards.

Three more men and two more women will get wild cards at a later date.
