Dolphins let Haley go to the Redskins

MIAMI, April 25 (UPI) -- The Miami Dolphins have decided not to match an offer sheet tendered to defensive tackle Jermaine Haley by the Washington Redskins.

Haley becomes the latest restricted free agent added by the Redskins, joining receiver Laveranues Coles, returner Chad Morton and safety Matt Bowen.

By not matching, the Dolphins will receive a seventh-round pick in this weekend's draft.

"We came to this decision after carefully evaluating all of our options," Dolphins Coach Dave Wannstedt said. "With Tim Bowens and Larry Chester, and the acquisition of Jeff Zgonina this offseason, we feel good about our depth at the defensive tackle position. This now gives us an additional pick in the draft, and affords us another opportunity to select a young player."

Also on Friday, the Dolphins acquired a third-round pick from the New England Patriots, the 78th overall selection, in Saturday's draft for a second-round pick in 2004.
