Miami 93, Washington 83

MIAMI, March 2 (UPI) -- Mike James scored all 10 of his points in the final 13 minutes Sunday night to lead the Miami Heat to a 93-83 victory over the Washington Wizards, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

A second-year guard from Duquesne and one of the NBA's more improved players, James stabilized the Heat after they gave away the lead late in the third quarter. He helped compensate for the fourth-quarter absence of Eddie Jones, making big plays on both ends of the court.

While James provided a spark, Washington's Michael Jordan struggled. He scored 21 points but made just nine of 27 shots and was unable to rally his team in the final period.

Rookie Caron Butler scored 20 points to lead six players in double figures for Miami, which stopped a three-game slide.

Jerry Stackhouse scored 24 points for Washington (29-30), which was denied a chance to move above .500 for the first time since Jan. 20.
